Notes from the producer Andrew Pattison...
festival folk sing Gordon Lightfoot is the fifth compilation of artists celebrating the talents of an influential songwriter, following on from festival folk sing Judy Small (2013), Bob Dylan (2012), Eric Bogle (2011) and Joni Mitchell (2010). Marina Hurley came up with the concept and produced all four of these albums. I put my hand up this time, on behalf of the original baby boomers who witnessed the 1960s’ folk revival and the evolution of the contemporary folk singer-songwriter, to acknowledge the phenomenal talents and productivity of Gordon Lightfoot, and to introduce his music to a later generation.

about

Miguel (© Warner/Chappell Music Australia Pty Ltd)

℗ 2016 Rod McCormack. Rod McCormack – acoustic guitar & vocals. Recorded & mixed at The Music Cellar by Rod McCormack.

Rod McCormack is a musician, songwriter and record producer from the NSW Central Coast. He is one of Australia’s most recorded musicians, including with a range of artists from KD Lang to Jimmy Barnes, Guy Sebastian to Paul Kelly, Shannon Noll to Leo Sayer. Rod has over 400 of his songs recorded and has won numerous awards. “As a kid we would listen to vinyl after vinyl of Gordon Lightfoot. So it made sense that as a young guitar player, I adopted a thumb pick, slowed down the vinyl down to half speed, and started to learn all of those great songs. Around the age of 9 or 10, armed with Miguel, Song For A Winters Night and versions of other Lightfoot songs, I started to get out and play in halls. I owe a huge debt to Gordon Lightfoot’s - he taught me how to play, how to arrange and the joy of a great song.” rodmccormack.com
